Avoid Travel If You Can!

Officials are asking people to stay off the roads unless necessary, especially during snow or icy conditions. If you must drive, keep an emergency kit in your car with blankets, a shovel, flashlight, jumper cables, sand or kitty litter for traction, and a bright cloth for signaling. Keep your gas tank full and check fluids.

Always Stay Safe in Outdoors!

Dress in warm layers, including hats, gloves, and waterproof boots. Take it slow when shoveling snow—cold air puts stress on the body. Take breaks and push snow instead of lifting it. Use rock salt or pet-safe ice melt on sidewalks before snow falls.

City officials urge residents to stay alert, check on neighbors, and follow NYC Emergency Management alerts and local news as weather conditions may change quickly.
