NEW YORK. South Korean star Lee Min-ho is set to return to the big screen in the upcoming thriller Assassins, one of his most anticipated film projects. Studio Hive Media Corp has officially announced the theatrical premiere period for its eagerly awaited political mystery thriller, The Assassin(s) (암살자들), set for the upcoming Chuseok holiday (mid-September 2026).

Directed by Hur Jin-ho, Assassins also stars Park Hae-il and Yoo Hae-jin, the film is inspired by the historical attempted assassination of South Korean President, which tragically resulted in the death of First Lady on August 15, 1974. The story explores the political intrigue and consequences surrounding the event.

Lee Min-ho plays Young Il, an ambitious rookie reporter who risks everything to uncover the truth behind the high-profile case. The role marks a shift toward a more intense and dramatic character for the actor.

Lee Min-ho’s next confirmed film following Assassin(s) is expected to be a romantic comedy drama titled Virtual Love (working title). He has been offered the lead role of Cha Wook-hyun, a cold game company executive who leads a double life as a virtual idol, and is currently reviewing the offer.
