Songs of New York: 100 Years of Imagining The City Through Music

Starting on February 14, 2025, the Museum of the City of New York will unveil "Songs of New York: 100 Years of Imagining the City Through Music," an interactive exhibition designed by DOME Collective. This showcase delves into the city's rich musical legacy, evolving from the museum's centennial display, "This Is New York."

The reimagined installation offers an immersive auditory journey through the boroughs, spanning a century of music from the 1920s to the 2020s. Visitors can explore a dynamic playlist of more than 100 songs that reflect New York City's diversity, creativity, and resilience. Iconic tracks such as Frank Sinatra’s “The Brooklyn Bridge,” Wu-Tang Clan’s “C.R.E.A.M.,” and Jennifer Lopez’s “Jenny from the Block” are featured alongside lesser-known gems from local neighborhoods, creating an eclectic and vibrant experience.
