DCTV New York is bringing back a film screening of all five documentary feature films that were nominated for the 98th Academy Awards. These films will be shown on the big screen from Friday, March 6, through Thursday, March 12.
The five films are
THE ALABAMA SOLUTION, directed by Andrew Jarecki and Charlotte Kaufman (117 minutes). Imprisoned individuals challenge the odds to uncover a cover-up in America's most dangerous prison system.
COME SEE ME IN THE GOOD LIGHT, directed by Ryan White (104 minutes). Facing a terminal diagnosis, two poetic partners go on a touching yet surprisingly funny journey through love, mortality, and life's fleeting moments.
CUTTING THROUGH ROCKS, directed by Sara Khaki and Mohammadreza Eyni (95 minutes). As the first elected councilwoman of her isolated Iranian village, Sara Shahverdi dares to break patriarchal traditions, but questions about her true motives leave her identity uncertain.
NOBODY AGAINST PUTIN, directed by David Borenstein and Pavel Talankin (117 minutes). A brave Russian teacher documents the truth as schools turn into recruitment centers for war during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR, directed by Geeta Gandbhir (96 minutes). A small disagreement between neighbors in Florida turns into tragedy, with police bodycam footage and interviews looking into the aftermath of the state's controversial 'stand your ground' laws.
For over 50 years, DCTV has been a home for documentary film and media arts in New York. Located in a historic firehouse on the edge of New York City's Chinatown, DCTV is a nonprofit media arts center that has been one of the country's leading communities for documentary filmmakers since 1972.
