NYREADERS.COM - The Information Systems Study Program at Alma Ata University has once again demonstrated its growing international presence by successfully hosting an International Webinar titled "The Role of Information Systems in the Digital Era." Held virtually via Zoom on Thursday, November 30, 2023, the event was organized by the Information Systems Program in collaboration with three students and the Member Community of Centro Cultura da Indonesia in Timor-Leste.
The initiative marks a significant step in fostering academic and cultural partnerships across borders.
The webinar unfolded as a dynamic stage for collaboration and lively knowledge exchange between Indonesian academics and the vibrant youth community in Timor-Leste, particularly the enthusiastic members of the Centro Cultura da Indonesia. With 23 spirited participants joining in, the event was filled with energy and insightful discussions, diving deep into how information systems play a crucial role in accelerating digital transformation across various sectors.
The Head of the Information Systems Program at Universitas Alma Ata, Tri Rochmadi, S.Kom., M.Kom., delivered an inspiring opening speech emphasizing the importance of broadening students' and lecturers' perspectives on the ever-evolving global dynamics of information technology.
He highlighted that this webinar was not only an academic event, but a strategic step toward the university’s internationalization efforts and a concrete move to strengthen cross-border collaboration networks. His remarks set a spirited tone for the event, reinforcing the university’s commitment to producing globally-minded graduates ready to take on the challenges of the digital era.

Paulo Armindo F. Da Silva, as an attendant from Information Systems student and Timor Leste native, shared insightful perspectives on how the youth of Timor Leste can leverage information systems to drive innovation and foster a digitally-driven community. His passion for technology and its potential impact on his home country brought an exciting, forward-thinking element to the discussion.
The webinar covered a wide range of pressing topics in digital technology, from the use of information systems in decision-making, data security, to the development of systems based on community needs. Participants were also given the chance to engage in live discussions with the speakers, creating an interactive and inspiring scholarly atmosphere that encouraged deep dialogue and innovative ideas.
The participation of five students in this event demonstrates the commitment of the Information Systems Program at Universitas Alma Ata to encourage students to engage in international activities from an early stage.
