“No matter if you are a man or a woman, if you reach the door first, you should open the door for the next person,” explained Richard Johnson, a 33-year old local resident from Richmond city, VA added.
“Especially when you see someone carrying heavy items, or the person finds it difficult to open the door, you should open it for them,” he added.
Holding the door is considered good manners in nearly any situation and in all regions of the U.S.

Simple acts of kindness such as this are commonplace in America, and they showcase the helpful, courteous nature of Americans.
